FUTURE SEX STUDIO
The first Future Sex studio was run in 2015 as part of the Design Research studio courses available to Industrial Design students at RMIT. The studio brief asked students to research the field of sexual health and develop product innovation in response to a rigorous analysis of an area, issue or problem they found interesting or impactful.
The framework of the studio asked students to considered life-long sexual practice across a spectrum of wellbeing and age.
Students could develop sex toys or products relating to more serious issues of sexual health. Students tackled subjects relating to Vaginismus, Prostate Enlargement, Erectile Dysfunction, Sexual Trauma, Porn Addiction, Pre-natal Pregnancy, Sex toys and Post-menopausal women and invigorating sexual practice in long term relationships.
Studio leaders: Dr Judith Glover, Victoria Cullen and Margaux Hayes
The next Future Sex studio is due to run in semester 1 2019.
